Exercise #1

Last, we will look at how increasing the plasma current effects our last performance variable, energy confinement time.

>> Input the same shot numbers 41087, 41152, and 45599. For questions 4 and 5, plot plasma current on the top plot, energy confinement time on the bottom one. Note the energy confinement time at 4 seconds. (You will have to change the x-axis (time) before plotting to see the values around 4 seconds clearly.)

Question 4: As the plasma current is increased in each shot what happens to the energy confinement time (at 4 seconds)?

a) The energy confinement time doesn't change.
b) The energy confinement time increases.
c) The energy confinement time decreases.

Question 5: Which performance variables improve as the plasma current is increased?

a) Fusion output power.
b) Stored energy.
c) Energy confinement time.
d) None of them.
e) All of them.
